5 February 2006 Katie and I spent the Most of Sunday working on installing raised bed planters for a vegetable garden. The first order of business was to remove about a yard of pea gravel. It was between 4 and 6 inches thick. Walking in the yard is like walking on the beach. So we moved it out one 5 gallon bucket at a time. We filled half the bed of the truck with pea gravel and took it over to a friends place. That was about half to a third of what we want to take out. Next it was off to the store to get wood and planting mix. We are making 2 raised bed planters. The first is 2 wide' X 12' long X 2' high. The second is 2' wide X 8' long X 2' high. |

| The fist planter is done, filled with soil and some potatoes are planted at the near end. We ran out of day light and had to stop. The second 2' X 2' X 8' is in its approximate location. It will be 18" off the right wall and 2' from the other planter. |

| The next weekend (2/11/2006) we added the second planter. |

| Then we added some stepping stones between the planters. |

| Katie and I likes the stepping stones so much we are finishing off the pea gravel area with them. We still have a few more to put in. The drop from the concrete patio to the yard area was too large so we added a step. We also added a raised flat area for the trash cans. Note the brick border between the planter area with the tree and the step. We are going to add this same boarder to the other side of the stepping stones. |

We could not stop, so back to Home Depot to pick up the last of the bricks
for the border.
This project is FINISHED! 19 February 2006 |
